Homage to the Hot Sauce

Say Hi to "Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce".

So, I've been eating at Thai and Vietnamese restaurants for a while. They always have this little container of chili sauce. Mad Good!
There is nothing like it to make the flavors in your food POP!
Every bite - a tasty delicious super yummy explosion.
~~~The flavor is a fusion of spicy with a tang of sweet~~~
Lucky for me, while stumbling around the Chinese 24 hour vegetable market on Flatbush&Nostrand. There they were ->
Oh Baby, I grabbed a bottle and took it home. Not before paying for it of course.
And ever since, it's been a wonderful addition to my family.
Sexy Men's Accessory.
Wednesday, in my Critical Reading&Writing 2 Class we had group work to do. I saw there wasn't enough people in my group and I told this random boy to join. I immediately noticed his "flyness" and LOVED what he was using to carry his notebook and papers.
This boy was using Laptop Sleeve in brown crocodile skin leather.
Something like this:
You could imagine my awe and admiration for his innovative thinking. (His looked like patent leather and it had a lil' handle at the top.) How convenient don't you think?!
All he had in there was:
+ +
I guess this accessory is for the low-maintenance-kind-of-guys-who-aren't-too-excited-about-school. Not the ones with the huge book-bags bulging with books.
It looked really sexy &&& these days laptop sleeves come in all sorts of materials and patterns.
Check these out:
Laptop Sleeves from: J.Crew $295, Kohl's $46.74, Top Shop $30, Staples $39.99
Oh oh Coco
I'm sure we're all familiar with the luxury brand Chanel. A company
founded in 1909 when Miss Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel opened shop in Paris. Even though she started out selling menswear-looking-clothes, the brand itself is so feminine and beautiful.
Like this bit from the Spring/Summer 2010 Haute Couture Show, absolutely lovely wouldn't you agree?
Photobucket
There's a new movie out called Coco avant Chanel (it means coco before chanel), released in 2009. I didn't go see it in theaters, though I really wanted to.
Audrey Tautou plays the role of Coco Chanel. She looks amazing in the trailer and clips. I don't know if you're familiar with her in Amelie.
Le Trailer!!!!
So watch Coco avant Chanel - I believe the film is on DVD now!
Blazing the White Blazer
So lately I've been feeling for a white blazer. No particular reason. It looks like a crisp and fresh addition to anyone's closet.
Why? Basic color I suppose - I do Love my basic pieces.
Now, picture this with me....
White blazer + cute flowery dress:
I love dresses like these because, well, they're cute!!! I feel like a little girl. Throw on the blazer and get a more mature look.
The whole black and white thing works well too:
+ +
Classy and simple, no?
White looks good with brown too:
Roll up the pant legs a bit, get a shoulder-strap bag and you are ready to walk the city. Walk, walk, Walk!
I'm hoping I'll get myself one soon. So I can add something fresh to my outfits. Perhaps it's just a feeling or perhaps an on coming trend? We'll just have to see.
Books, books and more books!
So what do you do when you NEED a book?
Burrow, Buy or Steal???
College student - short on cash - saving my money for better things?
If you need textbooks for school, i recommend these sites. (That's if you haven't already checked the libraries around you which is kind of a long shot.)
Chegg - here you can rent the books for half the price or less. At the end of the semester you send it back. Tada! This is my first semester using this method. The books are in good condition and arrived within 3-4 days.
Textbooks.com - I've used here before. Sometimes I get a considerably lower price than most other sites, and they have a bigger collection. They take about a week, I can't recall fully...
Half.com - this place can be a real bargain too. Need a 50$ textbook? Buy it used for 9$. Love the cheap surprises here.
And for those literature classes....there's free ebooks! If you're lucky ^_~
Project Gutenberg - oh bless the founder of this site!!! You can get the books you need in different formats. I like to print the .txt versions at my school's print center. Also, if you're just reading for enjoyment there's audio versions too to keep your mind occupied while riding the subway and whatnot.
Readprint, Manybooks and Zinio are a few others I'm throwing in. Not as awesome and Gutenberg but worth a try.
Do not! I repeat - Do not buy your books at the school bookstore before checking out these sites. God knows how much money I've wasted T_T.
Good Luck and save your money!!!
Bring it back
You're not in love you silly girl!
....well that's my personal caption for this photograph.
I want the days of pin-up modeling to come back. It was mostly popular during the 1920's to 1950's and pretty much died. The only representative we have is Miss Dita von Teese.
Yet, I did admire the true pin-up models of the past.
Potatoes are Love
So I've always had a little trouble with making mashed potatoes. They're pretty simple...in theory!!! I used to do all sort of crazy things like throwing in cheese and tons of milk, but it used to get really stiff and that sucks. So - this is where I learned to relax and just make some regular, beautiful, yummy mashed potatoes. Tried and true - this guy's recipe.
